ADOPTION FAQ'S
HOW DO I APPLY TO ADOPT AN ANIMAL?
To adopt one of our foster animals, please fill out the adoption form found on our website under "Adoption Application".

If you have seen a specific animal on our site you are interested in, please mention that on the form.

This form has been designed to ensure that we are making the best possible match for adopters and animals in our program.

Once we receive your application, an adoption counselor will typically be in touch to discuss your application within 48 hours. Adopting from us makes you part of our Marley Family - we want to be sure that you know that we are an informational and supportive resource for you to contact us anytime.

HOW CAN I MEET AN ANIMAL THAT I AM INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
Your adoption counselor will liaise between you and the foster home to work to have the animal(s) at one of our many events.

WHY SHOULD KITTENS BE ADOPTED IN PAIRS OR WITH A MENTOR CAT?
If you are considering adopting a kitten, please take a moment to read this article on kitten development (click here).

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ADOPT?
We charge a $100 adoption fee for our kittens and cats and $150 adoption fee for our puppies and dogs. We know that this is nowhere near the value of the animal as it will be a part of your family and bring you great joy for many years to come. The adoption fee does not constitute the value of this wonderful companion. What it does is to help us help other stray animals . None of our animals get adopted until they are spayed and neutered. We do pediatric spays/neuters for those aninals that come to as as youngsters (you can find a plethora of information on pediatric spays and their safetly here) so your new baby will heal quickly and not have to worry about the many issues that come with being intact and because with the millions of animals euthanized yearly, we do not want to contribute to the potential deaths of future animals. Another benefit is that typically the amount of the adoption fee is infinitely less that the vet bill to provide all the services to your animal would be. It is a good idea to check out costs associated with animals before adopting. It is a lifetime commitment so there are many elements to the total expense and responsibilities (including planning for your pet should anything happen to you).

Note that this is the first investment in the ongoing cost of pet ownership. For more information about the financial commitment you will be taking on, we recommend this article.

HOW LONG DOES THIS PROCESS TAKE?
Your application will be forwarded to a specific adoption almost immediately. Making sure that your application is complete makes the process go faster. The day that applications are received may affect the counselor's ability to reach persons indicated on your application. We know you will want to meet the new furry family member to be sure it is the perfect match. All of those elements can sometimes take a few days but we will do our best to get applications processed quickly. Some kitties go home withing 24 hours while others take a few days for us set up a time that works for the adopter and our volunteers to meet.

WHEN CAN I TAKE MY ANIMAL HOME?
See above question for details - but as soon as your application has been approved and an adoption counselor can arrange a time that works for the adopter and our volunteer to meet up.

IF I SEE AN ANIMAL AT AN ADOPTION EVENT, HOW CAN I TAKE IT HOME?
You would need to first complete an online application on our website to start the adoption process rolling (see above questions for more details).

WHAT IF IT DOES NOT WORK OUT WITH MY NEW ADOPTIVE ANIMAL? While we strive to help you find the perfect match for your home and family occasionally your new friend is not an appropriate fit. Always call or email Marley's with any questions that you have about your new animal. If you feel that the placement is not working contact Marley's for the return of the animal. We will happily work with you to see if we have another animal that may fit in your home. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT ADOPTION FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE.
